Pete Kauppi is a singer/songwriter from Abbotsford, British Columbia. He is married and has two children.
Pete's CD "Glory" was recorded over six days at Sapphire Studios in Abbotsford, BC. It was engineered and produced by the multi-talented, Juno Award nominated Chris Janz who played bass, keyboards, electric guitars, and did backing vocals. The CD also features Rachel Campbell singing lead vocal on three songs. The album covers a wide range of musical styles from the tribal feel of "From Glory Unto Glory", to the anthem-like "We Seek Your Face", to the hard-rocking "You Are Holy", and everything in between.
The songs on the album were written over the past six years and were inspired by the teaching at Pete's home church. The songs include praise and worship, and songs of confession.
Pete was born on January 5, 1965, in a little town in northern Finland, called Kuusamo, just a few miles from the Russian border. Just before the age of two, Pete's family moved to Toronto, Ontario, where they lived for six years. The family then moved to Langley, British Columbia, where Pete grew up and finished school.
Pete has been involved in church music and song writing since 1979. He started playing guitar in his church youth group and later joined a Christian rock band, Zion. Pete also played bass for his church's youth choir and was involved in recording an album with them. That was Pete's first experience in a recording studio. After that, Pete drifted away from playing music publicly for several years.
Pete got involved in worship music in 1998 playing bass and guitar for his home church. He began leading worship and writing worship songs in 1999. He has a passion for leading people into the manifest presence of God and seeing the Holy Spirit work in their lives. God has a definite anointing and call on his life to minister through music.
